We were never meant to consume this constant flood of devastating images, endless opinions, and hard stories—all hitting our brains and hearts at full force. Yes, it’s incredible to be so connected and informed and it is also dangerously exhausting, causing division and harm in ways we may not even realize.
It’s more than okay—it’s absolutely necessary—to unplug, to step away from the screens and the noise to care for ourselves. Let’s remember that our devices can be tools for growth and true connection, only if we’re intentional, though.
Look up.
See and truly connect with the humans right in front of you.
Today, let’s check in—really check in—with the people we love, lead, and live beside. Ask the curious questions and wait for the real answers:
How is your grief today?
What has you worried right now?
What are you excited about?
What’s on your heart?
How are you showing up, following through, and caring for yourself today?
Here, right here, on the screen you are reading, I am really asking the above questions to you, I’ll start…
My grief is heavy and gorgeous today.
I am worried about the state of our country and about some of my friends.
I am excited to some cabin time and a pile of good books.
My heart is overcome for another year of this life I have created and that I am blessed with.
Today I am showing up for myself by locking myself out of social media and going to immerse myself in creekside cabin life with my little family for my birthday.
