To fly we often first must become undone in the dark.
Finally, it’s here, my monarch butterfly timelapse.
Not perfect and so incredible.
It’s taken me weeks, quite a bit of time, and several missed butters bc my phone died waiting and then I would miss one.
I was especially determined to catch it this year as it is my toughest butterfly season yet.
I will only release 14 monarchs this year.
Usually, I release 200-300. I’m praying this is a fluke, and next year, I will be back to more normal numbers, which is still very low.
Please plant native flowers, especially milkweed, and for the love of all things, please stop using chemicals on your landscaping and grass. It is killing us and them.
*The monarch caterpillar on the right didn’t make it as it had a tear on its skin and couldn’t pupate properly.
