What happens when you break my trust?

Justine Froelker - Business Speaker - Quote

The unspoken is never, ever benign. Nothing changes if nothing changes.

It is true that when people show you who they are, believe them.

And people can learn and grow and change.

Two things can be true at once.
In fact, they often are despite how uncomfortable it is for us and our brain that loves certainty.

When we choose to trust people, we also choose to be vulnerable.
When we choose to be vulnerable with people, we choose to trust them.

And something we can count on is that trust will be broken.
Because life is messy and people are complicated.

It can sometimes feel stupid to be vulnerable with them again when the trust has been broken or to try to repair trust when it has been broken.

It can feel stupid and doesn’t necessarily mean it is stupid.
Because I will always come back to – people can learn and grow and change.

Sometimes they just don’t want to, though.
This means there will be times when trust cannot be fully repaired, and our relationship must change.

For me though, it will never be stupid to believe the best in people, to build and repair trust with them, and to yes, put major boundaries in place when they aren’t willing to repair, learn, grow, and change with me.
