Gardening has so many parallels to life

Sometimes, I wonder if we tell ourselves we aren’t “nature people” or “gardeners” simply because we’ve decided that’s who we are. But maybe we just haven’t felt the dirt between our fingers, sweat dripping, sun warming, waiting patiently for the sprout, the bud, and finally—the magnificent bloom.

Gardening has so many parallels to life—the burying, the undoing, the care, and, ultimately, the redemption.

This year, I tried dahlias for the first time. I complained about them most of the season. They were too much work, and I swore I’d never plant them again. But here they are, late in the season, showing off and showing me.

Hard work, patience, and trust—they always get the last word.

So, if you get your hands dirty, bury what needs to be buried, and put in the work, something beautiful will bloom.

And hey, wildflowers? They aren’t hard to grow, and you’ll be amazed at what you get. Come to my next training and I’ll teach you.?
