Back to Basics self-care advice Justine Froelker

Care well for yourself today

I’m exhausted, and it’s hard to get the overthinking and overwhelm to stop. My heart hurts, and my understanding muscle is waning and worn out. Fatigue has a way of making convictions sharper and shrinking our worlds. It can also make it easier to self-protect from fear and slip from the values that keep us grounded and connected.

So today, I am going back to basics.

Today, it is stepping back from social media and, most significantly, not engaging in comments that lack kindness and curiosity. I’m also recommitting to the low dopamine morning-no screens for 45 minutes upon waking and completing small tasks instead. No phone for at least an hour before bed. And finally, my morning quiet walk.

We can’t give what we don’t have. We can’t help heal unless we first tend to our own healing.

My hope is that you can care well for yourself today, too.
