Growth is sacred.Change is constant.
Every day I check my Facebook memories.
I do it mostly to remember the dogs we’ve loved across their lifetimes, each one still etched in our hearts. I also do it to honor the dates that matter. The ones that changed me. The ones I survived. The ones that brought delight.
And every day, I also witness just how much I’ve grown. How many opinions I’ve changed. How many tools I’ve added. How many stories I’ve rewritten. How much of this life I love that I’ve curated.
It can be tempting to meet those old posts with cringe or shame. I used to.
Now I try to meet her, who I was then, with gentleness. With compassion. With gratitude. She got me here.
Because growth is sacred.
Change is constant.
And it is always, always, a requirement for this human experience.
It’s sad how little grace we tend to give it. How fiercely we resist it in ourselves and others.
And yet somehow, some way, every change, especially the ones that break our hearts, has something to teach us. Grow us. Heal us. Prepare us. Even if we wish it could’ve happened another way.
Because if it’s not okay yet, it’s not finished.
And because we can trust the One who is always working it all for good. Because He does and will.
