Reclaim life by looking up from the screen

I scroll too much when I’m overly tired and outside of my courage value.

It feels easier, even though I know it isn’t.

Sure, I might see something that makes me laugh, teaches me something new, or leaves me in awe or inspired.

Except those posts are sprinkled in among the ones that feel like an assault on my eyes, heart, and soul. in among the ones that feel like an assault on my eyes, heart, and soul.

Locking myself out helps.
Setting a daily time limit helps.
So does using a timer when I’m on the apps.

What helps the most, though?
Putting my phone in another room and engaging with the life that’s right in front of me.
Oh, and prayer. That helps too.

When it comes to self-care, I come back to my Courage Check Questions:
Am I in my values when I’m doing this?
Am I in true, authentic connection?
Do I feel rested, restored, and refilled?

If I’ve scrolled for longer than ten minutes, the answers are almost always no.

We were never meant to live this way.
And I’m choosing, more and more, again and again, to reclaim life by looking up from the screen.

How do you manage your consumption of social media?
