The scars, the lessons, and the unyielding spirit

Thirty years ago today, I underwent my first back surgery—a day that marked the beginning of a journey I never should have had to take, one I never asked for, yet one that has shaped me in ways beyond imagination, and for which I am forever proud of and grateful. My body and spirit have endured pain, fought battles, and shown a resilience that defies what most will even dare to imagine.

Today, I honor the people and community who showed up to help. I honor the strength within me, the hurting young girl who didn’t know her own power or how deeply she was loved. I honor the path that led me here and live out loud the strength, the boundless love for everything and everyone, and the fierce spirit that has only come of the darkest of valleys.

Here’s to embracing the scars, the lessons, and the unyielding spirit that keeps us moving forward.
