What we do, how we love, and how we help matters.

As I watch the devastation of the LA fires, feeling like all I can do is pray and give what I can financially, I want to remind us of a few things:

Doomscrolling—taking in more horrific information than we were ever made to bear—won’t help those in need. And it won’t help us either. It’s okay to step away from the relentless 24-hour news cycle.

It’s okay to feel so overwhelmed by your own challenges that you can’t hold space for anything else right now.

It’s okay to be heartbroken, scared, or unsure of what to do next.

May we remember:
Look for the helpers.
Be a helper in whatever ways you can.
Prayer helps—I promise.

This is yet another reminder that what we do, how we love, and how we help matters.

Because at the end of the day, it’s our neighbors, our communities, and each other who will lift us up.
