Prentis Hemphill Quote

sometimes people don’t have what we need.

There are people in my life I have to love from afar.

How?

Boundaries.

To know that sometimes people don’t have what we need.

Or they don’t want to.

Which means they don’t have it.

To stop going to an empty well looking for water.

This means that we love people within their limitations, set boundaries while having care and respect for them, feel all the feelings that come up for us when people don’t have what we need, and then go find what we need somewhere else.

I think this work is also possible and needed in our leadership relationships.
